Duke Environmental Lectures
|Bedford, NH — Students, faculty and staff at Duke University, (Durham, North Carolina) recently attended a public lecture by Bob Varney, Senior VP at Normandeau Associates, and former EPA New England Regional Administrator.
Mr. Varney's lecture, sponsored by Duke's Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, was titled "Energy and the Environment During an Era of Budget Cuts and Deficit Reduction." His presentation described the magnitude of federal and state budget deficits and how deep budget cuts will affect energy and the environment, triggering the need to redesign the implementation of related programs, services, and policies.
While on campus for his public lecture, Mr. Varney was also a guest speaker at a graduate level class in Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment where he was impressed by the high caliber of students and faculty.
