government.Normandeau's nationwide staff has successfully worked on federal, state and municipal projects for over 40 years. While most projects are rooted in biological studies, additional factors such as facilitation and coordination, gathering stakeholder perspectives, and communicating information via reports, presentations, and as expert witnesses are also critical to project success. This applies to both management and permitting decisions and is especially important when there are many stakeholders, including agencies, industry, the public, and conservation groups.

Our experience covers such diverse facilities such as military installations, cargo terminals, highways, electric transmission lines, natural gas pipelines (marine and terrestrial), marine-based telecommunications cable routes, railroads, airports, hydroelectric facilities and fossil fuel plants. We provide a full range of environmental planning and impact assessment services to assist federal, state and local governments, as well as major utilities; the oil and gas industry, private clients, transportation agencies and port and authorities.

Our staff is well trained in the professionally accepted techniques for sampling and data analysis, including the U.S. Army Corps and individual state standards for wetlands delineation. We have addressed important regulations and guidance requirements for these types of projects. Our staff has extensive experience with the Endangered Species Act and has worked closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, NOAA Fisheries, as well as several State Natural Heritage Programs, to evaluate potential impacts to rare, threatened, and endangered organisms, and develop mitigation to protect them. Our staff are certified by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Region 5, as well as by state agencies such as the New Jersey Endangered and Nongame Species Program, and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, to conduct searches for the dwarf wedge mussel.

Using sound science and innovative technology, we have earned a reputation for excellence in understanding and solving complex natural resource issues. Our extensive background provides a depth of knowledge and experience in disciplines ranging from ecological assessments and permitting to stakeholder interviews and facilitation.
