Experience

Over 45 years’ experience providing natural resource surveys, permitting, and comprehensive monitoring services in the marine and freshwater environments.

Development of environmental permit strategies for complex marine and freshwater projects from desktop and field studies through NEPA process and post-construction monitoring.

Recognized by the National Marine Fisheries Service for the outstanding quality of Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) impact assessments and Biological Assessments, including expertise in assessments for Sturgeon.

Conduct biological surveys and assessment of resources on the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf for potential offshore development utilizing ultra-high-resolution aerial imagery to record the locations of marine birds, mammals, turtles, cartilaginous fish, and other taxa, as well as boats and structures.

Senior regulatory specialists include a former EPA Region Administrator and two former US Army Corps of Engineers District Commanders, experienced in successfully navigating complex state and federal permit processes.

Capabilities

Our highly qualified scientists have worked together for longer than 25 years, providing high-caliber technical capabilities.

Highly qualified personnel and a full suite of field sampling equipment, including vessels, vibracores, gravity cores and grab samplers; Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP); global positioning system (GPS) technology and GIS services; and biological sample analysis.

Sediment survey equipment for analytical testing, pre- and post-dredge surveys, beneficial use studies, including barge-mounted and portable vibracores, Peterson and Ponar® grabs, gravity corers, hand corers and augers, capable of sampling in deep or shallow water, lakes, rivers, or bays, lagoons/impoundments, wetlands, and tidal flats.

Capacity to quickly mobilize and deploy multiple field crews to fit the needs of the project.

Extensive in-house staff expertise with rare, threatened and endangered species including freshwater mussels, bats, wildlife, fish, plants and other species.

Expert witnesses and peer reviewers for utility companies, large manufacturers, port authorities and others.
