Former Seattle District Commander of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Joins Normandeau Associates

Bedford, NH — Colonel (Ret.) Anthony Wright, Former Commander of the Seattle District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has joined Normandeau Associates as a Vice President. Colonel Wright will focus on the management of large, complex projects and continued expansion and strategic development of Normandeau Associates. Colonel Wright will add high level regulatory expertise to the firm regarding environmental impact studies, licensing and permitting for energy projects, harbor dredging, transportation and other infrastructure projects. He also will play a major role in strengthening our relationship with the Army Corps of Engineers as well as with the Navy, Air Force, Homeland Security, Coast Guard, Veterans Administration and other federal and state agencies. Normandeau has provided contracting services to the Corps of Engineers for many years, including a current 5 year contract with the Walla Walla (WA) District for hydropower services. Most recently Colonel (Ret.) Wright served as Commander of Seattle District of the Army Corps of Engineers where he directed 1000 employees with an annual budget of over $650M. He had a wide range of responsibilities including: operation of 23 harbors, 257 miles of levees and 6 flood control projects; management of three large hydropower projects (including Chief Joseph, the nation's 2nd largest); oversight of major design and construction on Army and Air Force bases in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana; permitting of highways, airports, railroads, electric transmission lines, hydropower, wind farms and other development projects; water supply and river basin studies; and disaster assistance. In addition, Colonel Wright served as U.S. Chair, Kootenay Lake Board of Control, International Joint Commission, and as a board member, for the Interagency Dredged Material Management Program.

Colonel (Ret.) Wright has over 25 years of engineering, management and regulatory experience with assignments throughout the United States and abroad, including Fort Irwin CA, Fort Lewis WA, Fort Riley, KS, Washington D.C., several assignments to Germany, and 3 tours of duty in Iraq. In his new position, he will work with Normandeau staff and clients throughout the country as well as internationally.

Colonel (Ret.) Wright holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls OR and a Masters Degree in National Security Strategy, from the National War College, in Washington D.C.
