Nashua Highway Project Advances

Bedford, NH — After many years of planning and public input, the Broad Street Parkway is moving forward. Normandeau Associates has begun environmental work on this high priority project for Nashua, the State's second largest city, which is a gateway community on the NH/MA border. "This project will help alleviate downtown traffic congestion, revitalize the historic downtown millyard area, and create a new link between downtown and the State highway system," said Jameson Paine, Normandeau's environmental manager. "This will be an interesting project in that we will need to address issues associated with a new river crossing, potentially contaminated land, stormwater retention, and historic and natural resources."

This accelerated, high priority project is funded by both federal and city contributions. Design and construction of the Parkway is being managed by the City with assistance and oversight from the NHDOT and FHWA. Normandeau Associates will provide a wide range of services, including various natural resource investigations, mussel surveys, associated resource agency coordination, and federal and state permit applications.

Normandeau Associates has extensive experience with transportation projects throughout the nation, providing environmental and community involvement services to FHWA, State DOT's, and local municipalities. We are working on more than a dozen transportation projects during 2012 in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Pacific Northwest regions.
