Normandeau Associates, Inc. and APEM Ltd. have renewed their partnership agreement, building on the success of joint efforts undertaken by the companies over the past three years.
APEM is Europe's leading independent environmental consulting firm specializing in freshwater and marine ecology and aerial surveys. With headquarters in Manchester, England, APEM has over 115 staff in ten offices throughout the UK. Like Normandeau, APEM is a science-based company with scientists and technical experts who are recognized leaders in their fields and cover a diverse range of environmental specialties. The two companies have developed a unique collaboration, jointly meeting with regulators, developers and power utilities, as well as presenting at conferences and workshops.
Projects undertaken over the past three years include ongoing ultra-high resolution surveys of bird colonies on an atoll off Hawaii for the US Navy, repeat surveys to show changes in the vegetation communities of the Florida Everglades and a suite of surveys of birds, marine mammals and sea turtles at a proposed offshore windfarm location in the Gulf of Mexico, and aerial surveys of a linear route in the Northeast US. This project benefitted from the unique combination of APEM's high resolution topographic and infra-red aerial imagery and Normandeau's highly skilled team of image interpretation analysts.
The partnership agreement sets the stage for continued collaboration of biological-related services utilizing APEM's remote sensing technology and innovation, and Normandeau's expertise in environmental interpretation and consulting. Pam Hall, Normandeau's CEO, said: "The combination of APEM and Normandeau capabilities allows the team to provide cutting edge technology solutions associated with access and accessibility in a variety of marine and terrestrial environments."
APEM's managing director, Dr. Keith Hendry added, "We have agreed to work together outside of our direct economic interests, to exchange information and knowledge to our mutual benefit."
