Bedford, NH — New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) has selected the team of Normandeau Associates, Hoyle, Tanner & Associates, and GZA to design a bridge, dam and fishway alternative that addresses transportation, public safety, flood management, water quality, and fish passage concerns. The Interstate 95 Bridge (NHDOT No. 120/102) over the Taylor River in Hampton and Hampton Falls, New Hampshire was built in 1949. The Taylor River contains fresh water habitat upstream of the interstate and tidal marshes downstream. Due to deterioration, the bridge is proposed to be replaced. A deteriorating dam (NHDES 106.08/.09) and fishway are also attached to the bridge.

Normandeau Associates will be responsible for coordinating with the natural and cultural resource agencies, completing related environmental sampling and field assessments, and State and Federal permitting. Normandeau will also be assisting with water quality considerations, developing stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs), and completing the necessary wetlands delineations, tree surveys, and wildlife review, as warranted. Depending upon input received from the resource agencies, downstream habitat assessments may also be necessary.
