Normandeau staff have been involved in over 200 projects requiring environmental due diligence that include: commercial, industrial and residential property acquisition; development or expansion of energy generation facilities; Superfund sites under the National Priorities List (NPL); transmission and pipeline corridors; site development; expert testimony to present third party defensible scientific findings; and compliance audits and management programs.

We provide a full range of capabilities that meet industry due diligence needs and that fulfill the requirements of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) which include:

  • Preliminary Assessments and Site Inspection (PA/SI) services.
  • Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Studies (RI/FS) to include sampling and risk assessments that help define the nature and extent of site contamination.
  • Alternatives analyses and remedial plans to stop or reduce the effects of hazardous substances on the environment and the public.
  • Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA) and Environmental Impact Reports (EIR)
  • Ongoing long-term monitoring programs and 5-year reviews as required once remedial actions are complete.

Our staff has provided Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) services for over 40 years, with project experience spanning the nation from Oregon to Maine, and in environments from undeveloped properties (e.g., wooded lots) with no known history of industrial usage, to complex sites with a history of industrial usage, waste disposal activities, underground storage tanks and known or unknown hazardous substances. All work performed follows the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards and includes the following services:

  • Site inspections and owner interviews
  • Historical and compliance document reviews regarding the site
  • Review of adjacent properties in an attempt to determine their usage and evaluate if any environmental concerns exist relative to the subject property
  • Completion of Environmental Site Assessment reports
