sampling.Normandeau leads the way in new techniques for environmental data collection and sampling. For over 40 years we have provided equipment and consulting services to clients who have unique needs and who rely on getting the right answers on which to base crucial decisions. We have provided these services with a level of understanding of our clients' specific needs using creativity and advanced technology to collect information efficiently and accurately.

Many projects that affect the environment require the sampling and collection of extensive multi-faceted data to monitor and interpret potential impacts. Environmental data sets are often complex in the number of factors that need to be monitored as well as the frequency of data collection. New requirements by agencies and stakeholders, and the need to follow stringent sampling and collection guidelines, has resulted in a need for expert data collection, storage, and analysis. We are one of the nation's foremost environmental consulting companies finding solutions for aquatic and natural resource issues.

sampling. Our primary aquatic-related services include fisheries and benthic organism studies, water quality, side-scan sonar, and hydrographic surveys, and water and sediment sampling services. We also provide hydroacoustic and complimentary sampling solutions that include experimental design, field operation, data collection, data analysis, mapping, and reporting for aquatic resource assessments, ecological monitoring studies, and environmental assessments.

We provide vibracoring services for remedial investigations and feasibility studies for dredging and construction projects, and have also deployed in situ geotechnical data collection methods, like shear vane equipment, for onsite physical characterization. Our bathymetric/hydrographic equipment enables us to electronically collect and analyze depth data to ascertain both the sediment characteristics and the bottom topography of a water body. Our side-scan sonar equipment is used for sediment characterization of submerged land surfaces and harbor/port operations. We are at the forefront of using hydroacoustics to determine the movement of fish populations related to hydropower dams, outfalls and other project sitings. Our staff recently used hydroacoustics to assist in evaluating a fish deterrence device. In addition, we used hydroacoustics to support a major power plant in the placement of a cooling water intake where it would have the least impact on fish populations.

Our senior field staff are highly experienced in designing and conducting complex field investigations. Working with our program managers, clients and scientific staff, they develop methods and techniques which result in complete, high quality data products consistent with documented procedures and quality goals. We also have extensive database expertise that allows for the storing and analysis of large data sets.
